This week, we're focusing on organising physical resources like manipulatives, printed games, laminated materials, classroom decor, and more. Let’s streamline and create a more efficient teaching space!

Here’s the plan:

Each day, tackle one storage container of physical resources. Set a timer for just 10 minutes.

Here’s how to approach it:

  1. Empty one storage container. Yes, take everything out!

  2. Sort into categories. Make piles for:

    • Keep: Items used within the last 5 years.

    • Toss: Outdated or broken items.

    • Donate: Items in good condition but no longer needed.

    • Send home: Items students can use.

  3. Be honest with yourself. If you haven’t used it in years, it’s likely you won’t in the future.

Organise smartly. Group similar items together and store them neatly. Use labels to make finding things easier.

Remember, stick to the 10-minute timer each day! Keeping it short and focused helps you stay on track and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Extra Tip:

  • Be honest: If you haven’t used it in years, it’s time to let it go.

Let’s make our physical resources neat and tidy!

Here are my favourite ways to store resources:

A4 Stationery Cases are perfect for storing bulkier laminated resources like games that are used often.
Zipper pouches are great at keeping smaller items together. (Snap lock bags work just as well).
File boxes fit suspension files and can be great for sorting a variety of resources. This is what I primarily use.

I use drawer traysfor storing paper. I also use them for shared student resources like glue and permanent markers.

All my A3 postersare stored in an A3 3 ring file.

For all other resources I use individual containers. I recommend trying to buy a large amount of the same type so they match and stack easily. The straighter the sides, the more you can fit.
